Scholarship of the Future

The Foundation is committed to supporting promising students to become engineers. We recognize it takes a combination of both hard work and educational funding for most students to achieve their goals. The scholarships Program’s purpose is to encourage students to pursue engineering studies at a university, to recognize their achievements, their leadership potential and their social commitment.

SCHOLARSHIPS OF THE FUTURE worth $2,000 each will be awarded to qualified students enrolled at a CEGEP in Québec.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

If you are applying for this Scholarship of the Future you must:

  • Fill out and sign the scholarship application form;
  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada;
  • Have been residing in Québec for at least one year;
  • Be enrolled full time in the last year in a CEGEP program qualifying students to pursue engineering studies at a Québec university;
  • Previous scholarship recipients cannot reapply.

If you are applying for this Scholarship of the Future you must:

  • A proof of citizenship or permanent residency in Canada (proving residency in Québec over the last year);
  • An official confirmation of your R score from the registrar of your academic institution;
  • A curriculum vitæ (indicating various jobs held and extracurricular activities);
  • An essay (maximum 500 words) on the subject of "The contribution of engineers to society";
  • A letter supporting your candidacy written by a third party (teacher, employer, coach) highlighting your academic prowess and providing examples of your leadership skills;

The selected applicants must prove their full time enrolment at a Québec university (an attestation from the office of the registrar confirming your admission and enrolment in the chosen engineering program).

Recipient have a maximum of 2 years from the date on which the scholarship is presented to them to claim the balance of their scholarship.

Selection criteria

  • Quality of the case file and presentation;
  • Quality of the essay "The contribution of engineers to society";
  • Leadership potential, involvement (extracurricular and school activities), service in the community, volunteering, etc.)

Decision makings

The applications will be reviewed and recipients selected by a committee based on assessment of information provided. Incomplete applications or applications that do not meet eligibility criteria will not be considered for this scholarship.

Scholarship award and payment to recipients

The scholarships will be awarded in February and March 2018. With all conditions met, scholarship recipients will be officially advised by email.

Payments will be made in two instalments: 25% upon receipt of the scholarship, 75% upon receiving proof of enrolment in an engineering program at a Québec university

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The deadline is November 30th 2017. The deadline is the date after which applications will no longer be accepted. The Foundation uses the postmarked date to determine mailed entries.

CHANGES TO THE PROGRAM

The conditions of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Foundation Scholarship Program may be amended at any time as to the value of the scholarships and the rules described on this website.
